Display Led Replacement

The Chess Master Videomaster display daughter board has 4 x 7 digit displays plus a decimal place, the leds provided are very dim and some segments were not working. The solution is to replace all the Leds with 0603 SMD’s, so all the segment look the same intensity.

Used a hot iron to remove then old leds and replaced SMD 0603 Red Leds, below shows one segment replaced and lit up.

With the installed segment guard and diffuser display now looks vibrant, probably will need to change the current limiting resistors to reduce the brightness.
